TIPP CITY (SEPT. 15) – A driver was arrested for driving while under the influence after sideswiping a Miami County sheriff’s cruiser that had stop to back up another deputy on a traffic investigation. The offending vehicle didn’t stop so the deputy got into the cruiser and followed it until it stopped a short distance away on Ohio 201 near Ohio 571. Its operator was arrested for driving while under the influence and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
PLEASANT HILL (SEPT. 13) – A driver reported what he suspected was a road rage incident after seeing two vehicles stop on Myers Road and again on Ohio 48 in the same area, Miami County Sheriff’s deputies said. The reporting man said he thought he saw the one driver point a gun at the other. The one driver was stopped in West Milton and said he had been “messing with” a co-worker first by pointing a silver and black “vape” at the other driver and then yelling at him. The driver was charged with disorderly conduct.
VANDALIA (AUG. 30) – A man reported to Vandalia police that a woman he knows stole his wife’s wallet and cell phone while they were attending church services. The stolen items were retrieved from the woman by police.
VANDALIA (AUG. 28) – The city of Vandalia contacted police about a man texting offensive message to a city employee. Police were asked to trespass the man from the Rec Center because of those messages. Police told the man he could not be on the property for the next 60 days.
