Police said a locked file cabinet was pried open at Innovative Floors, and a small amount of cash stolen. Grismer manager Jeff Coates said it was the first break-in he could remember at this store, and nothing was taken. Capitol owner Brian Widener said nothing was taken from the dry cleaning business, but added that this location had a similar break-in in 2006.
Sugarcreek Sgt. Brian Deckard said the Grismer store had an audible alarm that likely caused the suspects to flee, especially given the store’s close proximity to a large apartment complex.
Police in both jurisdictions said no arrests have been made, but Bellbrook Detective Keith Salyers said a person of interest in the Bellbrook cases may also be involved in a Riverside theft that occurred less than an hour later.
Riverside Detective Matt Sturgeon said the Burrito King restaurant at 2307 Valley St. was broken into twice overnight, with the first call coming in at 12:08 a.m. Thursday. Sturgeon said Riverside continues to investigate that case, but no arrests had been made at noon Thursday.
