Law enforcement arrested Porter after he complied with orders from authorities and exited the house in the 3200 block just after 1 a.m., said Dayton police Lt. Matthew Beavers said.

Porter allegedly threatened and fired a shot at another individual while that person was on the phone with 911 dispatchers around 5 p.m. Monday, according to police.

The caller told the operator he, the gunman and others were in a house. He said when he got up to leave, the gunman issued the threat.

While still on the phone, the caller said the gunman approached him carrying an AR-15.

"He just ----- shot at me!" the caller said, moments later promising the gunman he would be back -- with his gun.

"I'm thinking about taking the gun from him... I'm hoping he runs... I don’t understand why he pulled a gun on me," the caller told the operator, who advised the caller not to get his firearm.

Police say the initial incident occurred only a few houses away from the East Fourth Street residence that Porter fled to and barricaded himself inside, which was identified as the house of a person known to him.

Dayton SWAT were called to the scene, which prompted police to close Fourth Street, block off surrounding roads, and evacuate neighbors for safety precautions while the standoff was in progress.

Beavers confirmed police/SWAT did fire tear gas canisters into the residence in an effort to end the standoff.  Police also used bullhorns in an attempt to contact the man.

No one else was inside the house with the suspect.

Word about the tear gas squares with reports to this newsroom from people in the neighborhood who said they heard what sounded like explosions during the hours-long police operation.

Porter is scheduled to be appear in court this afternoon.

No injuries were reported during the ordeal.
