Dayton police said 51 units total were compromised. They are checking security cameras in the area for clues. They did discover headlights going through the property at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
A source close to the investigation told our reporter a fence was cut.
Police said nearly every large unit was targeted. One customer estimated approximately $25,000 worth of items stolen.
“My bosses storage unit got busted into. They stole his truck, all of his equipment, they cut the lock on my storage unit,” said Dwayne Skapik.
He said the break-ins are preventing him from working and earning money.
Ed Olgeaty, another storage renter, said he had an A-T-V stolen, worth approximately $12,000.
“I’m feeling hurt because you know you pay a lot of money to store things and other people don’t respect your stuff and it’s gone.”
The same facility had units broken in to several weeks ago.
