Timothy Lazier, of Franklin, was shot once in the head by an unknown person.
Preliminary results indicate that the shooting was accidental, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Franklin Commons Drive around 2:46 p.m. Monday on a report of a man being shot in the head.
Lazier was taken to Atrium Hospital, but his condition is unknown.
The case is still under investigation and charges may be pending.
