LEBANON – A Middletown woman accused of stealing money from the Franklin High School Band Boosters pleaded guilty to a grand theft charge in Warren County Common Pleas Court.
Dana Karrick, 33, of 580 Garfield St., entered a guilty plea Thursday to the fourth-degree felony offense in connection to taking more than $11,000 from the band boosters while she served as the organization’s treasurer.
Aaron Aldridge, Karrick’s attorney, said a charge of unauthorized use of property, a fourth-degree felony, was dismissed.
A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 31.
Warren County prosecutors said Karrick allegedly had taken the booster’s band camp funds as well as money earned from concession sales at district football and basketball games between September 2009 and March 2010.
Loxley said discrepancies found in the organization’s bank balances led to an investigation by the Franklin police.
The organization said her name was the only one on the checking account. Now, the names of two band booster members are on the account.
