Woman stole $16K in lottery tickets from employer

A Covington woman pleaded guilty Monday, Feb. 23, to felony theft and forgery for stealing more than $16,000 from CR Butts Discount Tobacco, her former employer in Troy.

The plea in Miami County Common Pleas Court by Kathy Gilmore, 56, was a conditional plea as part of a request for intervention in lieu of conviction.

Under the program, if she completes three years of probation and conditions outlined by Judge Christopher Gee, the charges would be dismissed. Among the conditions were paying $16,830 restitution, following a curfew and completing an intervention program for gambling and other issues as outlined by a psychologist.

Gilmore was accused of stealing lottery tickets and money from the South Dorset Road business between June 2013 and March 2014.
