MORE: Kettering’s Career Tech to expand with new building, more students
Representatives from Germain and the Ford Motor Company met at the dealership on Tuesday to present the car to Scott Beirise, the automotives lead teacher. He was joined by all of his juniors and seniors for a field trip through the presentation.
“We typically will have community members donate cars to our program, and we truly appreciate this support,” Beirise said. “But having a new car in the lab that students will be able to work on and learn from is pretty exciting for us, and we’re grateful to John, Germain Ford and the Ford Motor Company for this opportunity.”
Beirise noted that the strong partnership between Fairmont and Germain Ford — where two Fairmont students are currently interning — prompted Germain general manager John Martin to recommend the donation of the car to the school.

The Automotives Tech Prep program in the Fairmont Career Tech Center has established partnerships with local auto dealerships, tire dealers, auto repair shops and body shops, including Germain Ford, Voss Chevrolet and Grismer Tire Company, according to Beirise.
“Germain has been involved in our auto program for several years, so this is an extension of that partnership,” he said.
Through these partnerships, Beirise places his students in internships and regularly takes his students on field trips to the partnership sites, giving the students a first-hand look at the workings of these multi-million operations, some of which can employ upwards of 75 to 100 people on a daily basis.
Partnering with these companies provides Beirise’s students with invaluable real-world educational opportunities to learn more about this in-demand field.
