Wires down, broken arm of utility pole causes outages Friday in Bellbrook area

Wires down in the Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Twp. area Friday evening caused 2,500 Dayton Power & Light customers to be without power, some for the second time that day.

Crews were dispatched to the area of Franklin Street (state Route 725) and Bonniedale Drive, Mary Ann Kabel, DP&L director of corporate communications, said.

The incident was reported around 5 p.m.

Major retailers affected included Walmart, Aldi, Staples and the gym Anytime Fitness.

When wires are down, always assume the power lines are live, Kabel said.

Do not touch them, and report a downed line online to DP&L or by calling 877-4OUTAGE.

EARLIER REPORT

Power has been restored to approximately 2,500 customers who were without power in Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Twp. Friday morning.

The outage was caused by a broken arm on a utility pole in the Bellbrook area, and was restored around 10 a.m.

Police and fire crews were blocking the Franklin Street (state Route 725) near the Bellbrook fire station while DP&L makes repairs.
