UPDATE @7:06 p.m. March 2: Media outlets in Indiana are reporting that Detroit police confirm they have one person in custody in the Indianapolis-based Amber Alert for two siblings that was activated this afternoon.

Police have not identified the person arrested, WTHR.com is reporting.

The two teens were reportedly abducted at gunpoint in the middle of the night. They are now believed to be in the Detroit area.

Officer Christopher Wilburn has said Aaron Blackwell and Emma Blackwell, 16 and 13, are believed to be in grave danger. They were last seen at 3 a.m. Monday at their home at 1215 Lasalle St. on the east side of Indianapolis.

WTHR-TV is reporting that Stanley Pernell, a relative of the two teens, was being brought in for questioning when he reportedly jumped from a police transport van in the area of Harding and Minnesota. He was arrested after a search.

Pernell said he jumped from jail van to help search for his missing brother and sister and that their abduction has to do with the theft of $47,000.

Police have not confirmed Pernell’s claims that he was allowed to speak by phone to his missing brother and that the captors have threatened to hurt his sister if they don’t hear from family soon.

Wilburn said investigators don’t believe a parent is involved in the abductions but also that the crimes were not random. He said investigators believe they were committed by three black men driving a black Dodge Charger or black Cadillac Escalade.

The teens’ father said he believes the abduction could be connected with a relative possibly stealing from people in Detroit.
