Writing contest closes Oct. 10

The 12th annual Dottie Yeck Good Life Award writing contest will close at 8 a.m. Oct. 10.

Online entries will be accepted from students in seventh through ninth grade who attend school or live in Montgomery County. Only one entry per person will be permitted.

All writing samples must be between 300 and 500 words.

The winner will receive $3,000. The winning entry, along with a photo of the writer, will be published in the Dayton Daily News.

KETTERING

Halloween Howl set for Oct. 14

Halloween Howl Fun for Little Ones will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 14 at the Kettering Recreation Complex, 2900 Glengarry Drive.

This event is geared toward kids ages two to six years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Games, crafts and inflatables will be available.

Little Chefs focus on holiday treats

“Little Chefs: Yucky Yummies” will be held in two session at the Lathrem Senior Center, 2900 Glengarry Drive.

The first class is from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 29. The second class will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Oct. 29.

The class is geared toward preschoolers ages 3-5. The cost is $11 for residents and $13 for nonresidents.

Lego event set at Wright Memorial

Let’s Go Lego will be held from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 8 and Oct. 22 at Wright Memorial Public Library, 1776 Far Hills Ave.

This is a free play event to encourage building with Legos and Duplos and imaginative building.

Parents are also encouraged to participate. The program is geared toward kids ages two to 12 years old.

Coloring pages and books will also be available.

Business breakfast set for Oct. 24

Business owners and managers are welcome to the Washington Twp. Business Breakfast. The networking opportunity will begin at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at Rec West, 965 Miamisburg-Centerville Road. Breakfast will be followed by a short program from 8 to 9 a.m.

This event is available to all business located in the unincorporated Washington Twp.

Reservations are required by Oct. 17. Each business can have up to three representatives.
