Carlisle school D.C. trip still a go

Despite some uneasiness from parents following the attacks in Paris, Carlisle Local Schools still plans for a group of students to travel to Washington D.C. tomorrow.

Superintendent Larry Hook told News Center 7’s Andy Sedlak he has received several calls from parents following the attacks in Paris.

“It creates an uneasiness at the very least, and I get that,” Hook said. “We’ve spoken with homeland security and the FBI…they’ve assured us that there’s no credible threat.”

Hook said school officials met with the junior high students yesterday to discuss the trip and ensure them of their safety.

“The safety of our students is paramount just like it would be any other time,” Hook said.

The school district plans to be in contact with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security throughout the trip, Hook said.
