City woman wins jackpot

Springfield resident Kathleen Howard won $40,000 playing the Double Gold slot machine at the Hollywood Casino in Columbus, according to a press release today.

More than 1,900 players stepped away from the slot machines as jackpot winners in October, racking up a total payout of approximately $4.6 million, which includes jackpots that are subject to federal and state taxation. Taxable jackpots begin at $1,200.

In addition to Howard’s win, seven other players came away from the slot machines, collecting a total of $99,813.

Howard’s payout of $40,000 was the largest slot-machine jackpot in the month of October. Since its opening more than a year ago, Hollywood Columbus has paid out more than $59 million in winnings. STAFF REPORT
