Coronavirus: Miami County has 24 deaths; figures change in Montgomery County

One more death linked to the coronavirus was reported Friday for Miami County, and the number of deaths linked to COVID-19 in Montgomery County was changed from 12 reported Thursday to nine on Friday, according to Ohio Department of Health data.

The death of a woman 80 or older is the 24th for Miami County, which  has seen 19 deaths linked to a cluster of cases at Koester Pavilion in Troy and SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City. It is not yet known whether the woman’s death is connected to the nursing home outbreak.

There are 134 COVID-19 cases with 48 hospitalizations in Miami County. The 23 deaths involve 11 men and 13 women; 16 were 80 or older; four between 70 and 79; three between 60 and 69; and one between 50 and 59, according to ODH data.

Montgomery County has 251 cases with 81 hospitalizations. The number of deaths was changed because ODH data now includes probable positive cases. Of the nine fatalities, five are men and four are women; five were 80 or older; one between 70 and 79; two between 60 and 69; and one between 50 and 59, according to ODH data.
