Family’s concern growing for brother of Mike Fox missing since March

Recent bank records shows no activity by man ruled incompetent.

HAMILTON — Now that Rodney Fox, the younger brother of embattled former Butler County politician Michael Fox, has been adjudicated incompetent, law enforcement have the mandate to bring him home.

Hamilton police along with other law enforcement agencies have been searching for Fox, 57, since his mother reported him missing on March 13. Police say he was last seen in a silver 2006 KIA after the Harrison Police Department had contact with him on March 16. But since he was not declared incompetent at the time, Harrison police advised him to go home, said Hamilton police Detective Jim Calhoun.

That was the last time anyone heard from Fox, whose family filed for the incompetency declaration March 14.

Bank records indicate Rodney Fox has been in several different surrounding states in the past few months, but a recent bank statement showed no activity, raising the family’s concern, Michael Fox said.

“He didn’t spend anything,” Fox said. “Before, at least we could know that he was still moving around. We don’t know now if something happened to him or if he’s been hurt ... we don’t know how he’s living.”

Rodney Fox has suffered from bipolar disorder since 1989, said Michael Fox, who said his brother is not believed to be taking prescribed medication.

The disappearance has been especially hard on their 83-year-old mother. “My mother is just grieving, as any parent would,” Michael Fox said. “She prays every day that she will hear from him.”
