New restaurant opens on Brown St. near UD

The 3,300-square-foot restaurant seats more than 75 and employ 15 to 20 staff members.

Rapid Fired offers  individual-sized pizzas and 14-inch family-size pizzas along with pasta, calzones, salads, breadsticks, and desserts. It also offers a “No Doh” gluten-free pizza-crust option.  Delivery is available via DoorDash, GrubHub and Uber Eats, based on those meal-delivery services’ availability.

Kettering-based Rapid Fired operates more than 30 stores in five states. It closed its location on Wilmington Pike near I-675 in Sugarcreek Twp. two weeks ago and moved some of that restaurant’s equipment to the Brown Street location, the chain’s founders told this news outlet in late September.

A week before it is scheduled to open a new restaurant on Brown Street near the University of Dayton, Rapid Fired Pizza closed a location on Wilmington Pike near I-675 in Sugarcreek Twp.

The store, located next to a Starbucks Coffee shop, had operated at 6252 Wilmington Pike since June 2016. Its last day was yesterday, Sunday, Sept. 22, according to Rapid Fired co-founder Ray Wiley.

Wiley said the Wilmington Pike store “has not been a great performer, and we plan to move that store and equipment down to the new Brown Street location.”

All of the Sugarcreek Twp. restaurant’s employees will be offered positions at either the new store coming to 1200 Brown St. in Dayton or at other existing Rapid Fired locations, Wiley said.

Rapid Fired co-owner Kelly Gray said there are no current plans to seek another location in the immediate vicinity of the closed Sugarcreek Twp. location.

“We feel the customers can be serviced at the store in Centerville or the one on Dorothy Lane” in Kettering, Gray said.

“We hope to open Brown Street by Oct. 1, pending receipt of our liquor license,” she said.

Kettering-based Rapid Fired Pizza, which opened its first restaurant on Miamisburg-Centerville Road between Centerville and the Dayton Mall in September 2015, now operates 34 restaurants in six states, including nine in the Dayton area.
