The eighth annual Martin Luther King Community Celebration will be held Monday, Jan. 18, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the YWCA Piqua.
This year’s event will focus on “Unity Today: Accept the Differences and Move Forward.” The speaker will be Shane Carter, executive director, Lincoln Community Center, Troy.
Local students and community leaders also will be part of the program with Brenda Cobbs-Allen, a musician-vocalist.
The event is free.

Teens can share New Year’s resolutions at libraries
Teens are invited to stop by the Troy and Pleasant Hill libraries or the Troy-Miami County Public Library Bookmobile and write/illustrate New Year’s resolutions on a pennant during business hours through Sunday, Jan. 10.

Friday Night Movies at the Hayner Center presents Top Gun
The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center at 301 W. Main St. in Troy will present the 1986 action drama “Top Gun” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The film is free and open to the public, and includes an introduction to the film, café-style seating, popcorn and soft drinks.
This film is intended for mature viewers and may not be appropriate for children under 13.
