Miamisburg promotes police captain to assistant city manager

Miamisburg has a new assistant city manager.

Tom Thompson, a captain in the city’s police department, has been appointed to the job, Miamisburg City Manager Keith Johnson said in an announcement released Thursday.

Thompson replaces Dody Bruck, who retired Aug. 31. He is a career police officer who will be moving into local government administration for the first time.

Thompson joined the Miamisburg Police Department in 1995 and was promoted to sergeant in 2002. He was promoted again in 2012 to captain, which serves as second-in-command on the Miamisburg force.
