The University of Dayton is hosting a College Goal Sunday event for high school students and families.
The event is at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 8, in Anderson Center, adjacent to B Lot.
Financial aid professionals will assist students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required to receive federal financial aid, including Pell Grants, student loans and need-based state grants. Walk-ins are welcome, but people are encouraged to register by visiting www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org.

Mayor’s address on cable access
Miamisburg Mayor Dick Church, Jr.’s 2015 State of the City address is now appearing on cable access TV in the South Dayton suburbs.
This year’s presentation is entitled “Building Community.” The annual State of the City message allows the mayor to provide an update on various city projects, review highlights in the community from the past year and look ahead to 2015.
This year’s address incorporates new graphics software obtained recently by the Miami Valley Communications Council, which produces the video presentation. Program schedules and online viewing are available at mvcc.net. STAFF REPORT

Base commander to speak at chambers event
Col. John M. Devillier, 88th Air Base Wing Commander at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, will be the keynote speaker at special event hosted by some local chambers of commerce.
The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 26, at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center,6801 Hoke Road, according to Marie Battle, executive director of the Trotwood Chamber of Commerce. Cost is $10 a person and includes lunch.
Besides Trotwood, the local chamber of commerce hosts include the cities of Brookville, Huber Heights, Northmont, and Vandalia.

City approves bike trail easement
The city has approved easements for a connector the Medlar Multi-Use Trail.
The Miamisburg City Council Tuesday, Feb. 3, approved giving the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District access to land near Medlar Elementary School to build the connector.
The connector would tie the 2.5-mile Medlar trail – which ends at the Great Miami River Trail - with a path ending at Byers Road. The trail stopping at Byers Road runs north and south, linking to a series of routes, including one traveling across Interstate 75 past Austin Landing in Miami Twp. and into Washington Twp. Community forum to be held this weekend
Less than desirable customer service in the northwest communities will be the topic of a panel discussion hosted by Trotwood City Councilwoman Mary McDonald and others.
The panel discussion will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 5301 Free Pike.
