Parks & Trails hosting full moon hikes

The Greene County Parks & Trails is hosting a full moon hike series at local parks once a month through the end of the year.

They are scheduled for: 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, Crooked Creek Nature Sanctuary, Sugarcreek Township; 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, Karohl Park, Beavercreek; 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, Sara Lee Arnovitz Nature Preserve, Xenia; and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, Russ Nature Reserve, Beavercreek.

Participants will learn the moon’s names and phases, as well as discover the night life of wildlife and listen to the evening sounds. Hikes will be canceled in the event of a thunderstorm.

The hikes are free to all participants, but donations are accepted. Participants are asked to dress for the weather.
