Springboro man part of Army Aviation crew

Springboro resident Adam Mullendore is a pilot for the Army Aviation, working in reconnaissance and security. The aviation division is an administrative organization within the Army, often called the air corps.

Mullendore is currently stationed in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

The 28-year-old was always interested in the military. He earned an ROTC scholarship to Eastern Kentucky University.

Mullendore is married to Lauren. The couple has two boys, and are expecting boy and girl twins in early January.

For Mullendore there is no greater job than flying.

“I’ll continue flying, drawing fire, and firing in support of my brothers on the ground for as long as I need to,” he said.

Favorite memory of your hometown: “Mom’s Restaurant on Friday mornings, and a Big Bo sandwich from B&B on the way to a day of hunting.”

Branch of service, rank, years in service: U.S. Army Aviation, Captain, seven years of service

How person got involved in the military: “I was always interested and chose active duty upon graduation (from Eastern Kentucky University).”

What actions he performed: “I’m an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior pilot, and my primary mission is reconnaissance, security and close air support for troops on the ground.”

Most satisfying part about the person’s work: “Getting to fly on a daily basis and provide support/protection for soldiers on the ground, and having them track you down later to let you know that had you not been there to provide rapid and effective fires on the enemy, they’re not sure if they would have made it back safely.”

Most memorable moment of service: “Every TIC (Troops-In-Contact) is different, and every engagement is memorable for its own reasons. But the most memorable part of every situation is hearing the calmness that comes into a soldier’s voice, even while still under enemy fire, when they hear close-air-support check-in with them on the radio.”
