Swifty closes some area sites

At least two Swifty Gas Stations around the region closed in recent weeks.

It is unclear why the stations closed, and phone calls to Swifty Oil Inc., in Seymour, Ind., were not immediately returned Monday.

Yellow tape surrounded parts of the Swifty at 2898 Olive Road in Trotwood on Monday, and the Brookville location on North Wolf Creek Street shut down last month.

Locations on East Second Street in Franklin and on South Limestone Street in Springfield remained opened Monday afternoon. Employees who answered calls at those locations declined to comment.

Swifty Oil Co. Inc. operates service stations and convenience stores. The company, founded in 1963, has stores in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Tennessee.

The company closed five sites in Louisville, Ky. and one in Anderson, Ind. in the past year following the death of its founder, Donald W. Myers, said Patrick DeHann, senior petroleum analyst for gasbuddy.com.

Swifty has 12 locations in southwest Ohio, ranging from Mason to Springfield. Six stores are in Montgomery County.
