Tornado relief: Where to get a shower if your water’s out

Sometimes just being able to get clean can make the world a little brighter.

Tammy Greenberg, the co-owner of Diversite Salon and Day Spa in Englewood, is offering a shampoo or shower to people affected by the tornado until their water comes back on.

“I was blessed to be able to do hair,” said Greenberg, who is without water at her home. “The tornado was so devastating for people, I want to give back.”

Greenberg said she and her staff were at the salon until 9 p.m. Tuesday night keeping the shampoo bowls filled and a steam shower ready while her husband handed out water in the parking lot.

The salon, at 37 Hillside Court in Englewood, is open daily from 9:30 a.m.- 7 p.m. Greenberg recommends calling (937) 479-6994 to confirm hours and availability.

“I want people to forget about their troubles, relax and leave their stress behind for a few minutes,” Greenberg said. “There’s nothing better than a shower and a shampoo to make you feel whole again.”

The YMCA of Greater Dayton has also opened all 10 of its Greater Dayton facilities to anyone in need of showers.

While on site, visitors can recharge cell phones. Make sure to bring a photo ID with you. The showers will be available until 10 p.m. closing Friday, May 31. The Trotwood location closes at 9 p.m.
