Traffic stop yields 2 arrests, drugs, stolen gun

Police recovered heroin, a stolen gun and arrested two people during a traffic stop Friday morning on Edison Street.

A Dayton officer drew her firearm after seeing a black handgun on the floorboard of a tan 1996 Buick Park Avenue she pulled over at about 2:46 a.m. in the 3000 block of Edison, according to a police incident report.

Police said the vehicle had pulled out of JP’s Sports Bar on North Gettysburg Avenue and hit the center median.

The officer recovered 15 gel caps of suspected heroin and a 9 mm handgun loaded with 17 live rounds that was reported stolen from Piqua in December 2011, according to the report.

Lawrence D. Maddox, 41, was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, drug possession and weapons violations, according to the report.

Staycee L. Hoskins, 40, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, according to the report.
