It is the first time since 1945 that the university has altered the commissioning ceremony.

Lt. Gen. Thomas C. Seamands, the Army’s 48th deputy chief of staff and UD alumnus, is the guest speaker.

During the ceremony, parents will place the shoulder boards on the cadets’ uniforms.

Last weekend, more than 2,000 UD students graduated during three virtual ceremonies.
