Washington Twp. zoning seat open

WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County — Washington Twp. residents who want to get involved in local government are invited to apply for an open seat on the township’s five-member zoning commission.

The commission is charged by the state of Ohio with making recommendations on land use to the Washington Twp. Board of Trustees.

The commission recommends changes to the township zoning map and zoning resolution, the legal document that controls and coordinates land use in the township’s unincorporated area. Its members also make recommendations on final development plans for construction in planned development districts.

The seat will become available in January when current zoning commission member Scott Paulson is sworn in as a Washington Twp. Trustee.

Members of the zoning commission — who serve five-year, staggered terms — are residents who have expressed an interest in volunteering. They are appointed by Washington Twp. Trustees who, among other things, look for a diversity of backgrounds and previous successful volunteer experience.

Residents of unincorporated Washington Twp. who are interested in applying for a seat on the commission should submit a letter of interest that includes relevant past professional and volunteer experience. Letters should be mailed to: Washington Twp. Trustees, Washington Twp. Government Center, 8200 McEwen Road, Dayton, OH 45458.
