“To know that I can share my love for Zumba fitness and wellness, all while raising money for a cause that is beyond worthy, is enough to make anyone’s heart smile,” Biel notes.
Biel became involved with fundraising for the American Heart Association after her nephew, Judah James Robinson, was born in April with a congenital heart defect. Judah, the son of Jillian and Josh Robinson of Xenia, has had 21 medical surgeries since his birth, Biel said.
Biel, who has been a certified Zumba instructor for more than two years, has also conducted Zumbathons to raise money for her nephew, the Wounded Warrior Project, the Greene County Humane Society, and the A House of Prayer’s Thrive Youth Ministries summer trip. On October 10, she held a Zumbathon to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The most satisfying part of volunteering: She has always loved the idea of helping others and being a part of happenings that are bigger than herself.
