Worker at Wright-Patt burned by hot tar

A man working on a building project at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base was severely burned with hot tar as he was repairing a roof, said Ted Theopolos of Public Affairs Specialist of WPAFB.

Theopolos said in a released statement that “an Enterprise Roofing employee was seriously burned by hot tar today while working on a roofing project at NASIC. He was transported by Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital. We do not have any further details at this time; however base safety officials will conduct an investigation.”

The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center near the WPAFB Materiel Command headquarters, said Brian Brackens with the base’s public affairs department.

The man, who works for Enterprise Roofing, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital for care.

Base officials said they are investigating the incident and more information will be made available later.
