Just a short drive to the outskirts of Fairborn, Oakes Quarry Park's entrance is tucked away on E. Xenia Dr., hiding an isolated, desert-like landscape that's perfect for watching a summertime sunset.
"This site was originally surface mined in 1929 for limestone to make cement by Southwestern Portland Cement Company and Southdown Inc., before being sold to the Oakes family in the 1990's. The family donated the land to the City of Fairborn in 2003," according to beavercreekwetlands.org.

Although we are spilling the beans a little bit, the Fairborn quarry park is so spacious and secluded, we guarantee you’ll find a people-free spot to sprawl out a blanket and soak in the silence.
