The Root Beer Stande in Riverside is now open for the season.

Just a day before Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog predicted that spring would be arriving early this year, The Root Beer Stande opened its doors on Feb. 1 to those yearning for warming temperatures.

The car-hop style restaurant, open since 1961, is famous for its burgers, hot dogs and floats.

From now until the harsh winds of winter begin to blow yet again, The Root Beer Stande will be open to the public on Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
