At least 15 vehicles involved in crashes that closed US 35 in Dayton

Iced over bridge played a factor in crashes, police say

Approximately 15 to 20 vehicles were involved in multiple crashes that closed U.S. 35 in both directions Monday morning, according to Dayton police.

It’s not clear how many crashes took place. The first crash was reported around 5:37 a.m., according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

Multiple medics were called to the scene, but the total number of people injured hasn’t been released. All injuries were minor, with some people being transported to the hospital, according to police.

Weather did play a role in the crashes, Dayton police added. The bridge in that section of U.S. 35 was icy.

U.S. 35 East and West were closed for approximately three hours from Abbey Avenue to Liscum Drive due to the crashes.
