Singing in a Jerusalem bomb shelter, GoBus launches locally and more headlines

Another workweek is beginning, and with it comes plenty of talk about daylight saving time and what it did to our sleep again this morning. Hopefully yesterday’s weather helped bring you the positivity you need to conquer this week, minus that lost hour of sleep we keep talking about. So what else will we be talking about this morning? Here are some stories that may find their way into your work or school conversations...

🎼 Singing in the shelter: As we continue to monitor the situation in the Middle East, our own Meredith Moss writes about her experience in a Jerusalem bomb shelter. She is still in Israel in the midst of Operation Epic Fury. She arrived there to visit her family before the siege began. She writes, “There were about a dozen people in the shelter, and space was limited, but the teenage girls used a speaker to amplify lively Hebrew songs and were singing and dancing with the younger kids. Then our entire group — with the exception of a one-week old baby — began singing ‘You Are My Sunshine.’ This was Purim in the midst of war.”

📃 House bill discussion: As we learn in Eileen McClory’s story, a bill in the Ohio House would provide $88 million for school transportation and require school districts to provide tiers of time in which the private and charter schools they transport students to can start, among other provisions. Read more about what the bill would do here. Speaking of transportation...

🚍 GoBus launches: We told you it would happen, and it did! GoBus has launched new service that directly connects Dayton to many other cities in our state. You can read more in our story from Cornelius Frolik here. Speaking of travel...

🚧 Traffic/construction news: As I have told you previously, our own Greg Lynch is now composing a special story weekly on local construction projects and traffic changes. We want to make sure you get it before the workweek begins, so we will post it to our website on Sunday afternoons at 2pm. Here is this week’s edition.
