Flynn investigation footage released, WPAFB and “Epic Fury” and more headlines

It’s a rain-soaked Tuesday morning here in downtown Dayton, as I type this newsletter out in our warm and cozy newsroom. As we monitor our local weather here in the Miami Valley and the situation playing out in the Middle East, we have no shortage of news for you today...

🫆 Flynn investigation footage: Body and dash camera footage have been released that show the early moments of the investigation into Ashley Flynn’s death in Tipp City last month. As we have been reporting, Caleb Flynn has since been charged with murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence in Ashley Flynn’s death.

🛦 WPAFB and Epic Fury: Operation “Epic Fury” involves the “largest regional concentration of American military firepower in a generation,” according to U.S. Central Command, and several missions at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base are contributing to that effort. In fact, as we learn from Thomas Gnau’s story, it’s arguable that WPAFB has an outsized role in shaping modern American air power, at least on the Air Force side.

🏦 Downtown bank to close: Our own Cornelius Frolik is reporting that the PNC Bank branch in downtown Dayton will close down after May 15th. PNC has a retail branch and offices at 312 N. Patterson Blvd., and the bank was the anchor tenant of the first new privately-funded office building in downtown in two decades. Read about the letter sent to customers here.
